Inside Story

Contemporary Cotswold Development

A calm, contemporary interior scheme designed to bring warmth, functionality and a sense of cohesion to a luxury Cotswold home.

The Requirement

For this luxury residential development in the Cotswolds, the brief was to create a series of refined interior spaces that felt contemporary, considered and entirely appropriate for the architecture of the property. The developer required an interiors partner who could take responsibility for the home's key functional spaces, including the bedrooms, fitted furniture, bathrooms and ensuites, while ensuring that each area felt connected through a consistent material and design language. The priority was to achieve a high-end finish without making the interiors feel overly formal or decorative. Instead, the scheme needed to feel warm, calm and architectural, with natural textures, subtle lighting and carefully considered storage playing a central role. As with all successful development projects, functionality was just as important as appearance. Every room needed to make intelligent use of the available space while maintaining the clean, uncluttered aesthetic expected within a premium Cotswold property.

Our Solution

We developed a cohesive interior concept built around warm natural timber, soft neutral finishes and understated contemporary detailing, creating a sense of continuity as you move throughout the property. Within the bedrooms, bespoke fitted cabinetry was designed to maximise storage while becoming part of the architecture itself. Fluted timber detailing, integrated shelving, concealed lighting and carefully proportioned furniture create spaces that feel both highly practical and quietly luxurious. Rather than treating wardrobes and storage as standalone furniture, we used the cabinetry to frame the rooms, introduce texture and make more effective use of otherwise underutilised wall space. The bathrooms and ensuites follow the same restrained material palette, combining warm timber vanity units with stone-inspired surfaces, brushed metallic finishes and softly illuminated mirrors. Premium bathroom products from manufacturers including Geberit were incorporated into the specification, helping us combine clean contemporary design with the quality and reliability required for a luxury development. Across the scheme, lighting was used as an integral part of the design rather than an afterthought. Concealed LED details, illuminated mirrors and carefully positioned ambient lighting soften the architecture and accentuate the texture of the materials, particularly during the evening. The result is a collection of spaces that feel connected rather than separately designed — with the warmth of the timber, neutral palette and subtle detailing creating a consistent identity throughout the home. For the developer, our involvement provided a single interiors partner capable of coordinating the design, specification and detailing of multiple rooms, helping to maintain consistency while simplifying the decision-making process throughout the project. The finished concept reflects the character expected of a contemporary Cotswold home: architecturally clean, materially warm and designed around the way the property will actually be lived in.
